After yesterday when Epic called out Apple’s app store yesterday for being a restrictive, not-open platform for distribution as they launched their own storefront, today the app store has had its revenge, leaking the Fortnite season 7 “cover art” early, showing off three new skins in the process
Two of the skins appear to be the ones we’ve seen in the first two season 7 previews from Epic itself. We have some sort of evil look ice wizard in the center, then an armored cat on the left. The right with the tattoos and beard could end up being the one we see in today’s preview, and there are surely more skins to be seen.
Last season’s art featured all seven skins in the Battle Pass, so it stands to reason that all of these are Battle Pass skins as well. If the positioning stays the same as season 6’s image, that would be our tier 1 skin front and center and our tier 100 skin as cat girl to the left. The middle wizard looks more like a traditional progressive tier 100 skin to me, but fans have been asking for a first-ever female tier 100 skin for a while now, so perhaps our cat friend might be it.
Also last season, the art showed the skins almost all the way progressed, so I am guessing there are probably “earlier” stages of the cat and the wizard before they get to this point. I doubt that Epic would abandon progressive skins now when those have been so popular, but perhaps they’re going to mix things up some other way I’m not predicting.
It is fair to assume that the wizard here is lord of the floating ice castle that is making its way to the map presently. Season 7 launches tomorrow and it’s still pretty far away, so it’s unclear if the iceberg will hit on day one, or perhaps a few weeks from now if Epic is saving that “event” for another time. We have usually had pretty definitive arrivals when season starts, the crater, the desert biome, Viking village, etc, so we’ll have to see how things play out this time. At the very least, we’re going to have a portion of the map blanketed in snow on day one.
I like these skins, though our friend on the right there is a touch generic, and I look forward to seeing the other four when those inevitably leak as well. For now, we may know what our tier 1 and 100 skins are already, and I’m sure Epic isn’t too pleased with Apple about it.
